HOME ESCAPE PLAN

fireprevescape.jpg

WHAT would you do if there was a fire in your home? The most important thing is to get out fast never hide under a bed or in a closet or take time to gather your belongings.

FIRES are very scary and confusing, they are loud and burn very fast and thick smoke can make a room very dark. It is very important to have a plan so you know what to do to get out of your home.

GOOD escape plans help you get out of your home quickly in case of a fire. The best plans have two (2) ways to get out. If the fire blocks one way, you can get out the other way. When escaping, stay low to the floor, smoke rises durning a fire. The safest air is down low.

YOU can help your family make an escape plan.
TRY to find two (2) ways out from every room in your
                           home.
THE first way out should be a door, every way needs to be
planned and practiced with your parents.
BEFORE opening any doors in a fire, feel it first if is hot
there may be a fire on the other side
STAY low to the floor when escaping a fire
PICK a safe and easy to remember place outside the home to meet your family after you get out.
AFTER you get out call 9-1-1 or your local fire
                     department.
STAY outside no matter what! Do Not go back for
                            anything.
